Doing it yourself doesn't mean you have to do it alone!

If you've ever thought about doing your own bookkeeping, whether you're just starting out and want to keep costs to a minimum, or you're currently paying your accountant to do it and are wondering if there's another way,

instead of that unsettling feeling that you don't really know how your business is doing or how much tax you're going to owe,

Imagine that you could do it yourself.

If you keep putting your bookkeeping off, then when the tax return deadline gets close you have a mad panic to get it all done,

or you've been told you've got to sign up to Making Tax Digital - so, instead of having 10 months to do your annual tax return in, you've now got to send your figures to HM Revenue & Customs four times a year with less than 5 weeks to do it in,

instead of feeling overwhelmed and anxious about every deadline, frustrated with yourself that you still haven't done it

or worried that you'll get it wrong when you do,

Imagine you had accountability to keep you on track and professional support from a qualified accountant.

The inspiration behind Springreach Training & Coaching

The Springreach Bookkeeping & Tax Community has been inspired by all the clients I've ever worked with, who were keen to do as much as they could themselves, but just needed someone to show them how.

Questions can be submitted during the two monthly live Q&A sessions or by completing the written Q&A form.

What if my business is VAT-registered?

This community is designed to support self-employed individuals who are not VAT-registered.

If your business is registered for VAT, you are welcome to join the community for accountability and Q&A support, but the training and resources in the member library have been primarily designed for non-VAT-registered businesses.

What if my business needs to keep track of outstanding invoices?

This community is designed to support self-employed individuals who keep their bookkeeping records on a cash basis. Cash basis bookkeeping has been the default basis preferred by HMRC since 6 April 2024, although you can opt to use traditional accounting if it suits your business better.

If you keep your bookkeeping records on a traditional accounting basis, you are welcome to join the community for accountability and Q&A support, but the training and resources in the member library have been primarily designed for cash basis bookkeeping.

What if my business is a limited company?

This community is designed to support self-employed individuals who keep their bookkeeping records on a cash basis.

If you operate a limited company, you are required to prepare your accounts on a traditional basis. There are also differences in the way that a company has to categorise some of its income and expenditure.

If you are a limited company director doing your own bookkeeping, you are welcome to join the community for accountability and Q&A support, but the training and resources in the member library have been primarily designed for people who are self-employed.

We do not recommend that limited company directors try to submit their company's accounts or corporation tax return without professional help.

Are masterclasses live or pre-recorded?

Masterclasses will ordinarily be delivered live. In exceptional circumstances, we may substitute a pre-recorded session or provide a replay. We will give reasonable notice of any substitution where practicable.

In the event that a scheduled Q&A session cannot be delivered live, we may respond to pre-submitted questions in writing; or provide a recorded session based on pre-submitted questions received; or reschedule it.

Any substitutions will not reduce the overall value of the membership and will not entitle the member to a refund.

What if I can't attend the live session?

If a masterclass or webinar has been recorded, the recording will be uploaded to the member library.

If it has not been recorded, a copy of the presentation slides or a written summary of the content will be uploaded to the member library.

What if I have an accountant?

This community supports members with or without an accountant. Members can still use an accountant at year end but are welcome join the community to benefit from the accountability and to learn how to manage their own bookkeeping during the year.

Springreach Training & Coaching currently supports VT Software, Pandle, Xero, FreeAgent and QuickBooks, as well as spreadsheets and manual bookkeeping methods.

Support for Sage Individual, LimeBooks and ClearBooks is planned.

What if I use software you don't support?

The bookkeeping process that Springreach teaches can broadly be applied to any software package, as the underlying logic behind most accounting systems is similar.

If you use a different bookkeeping or accounting package, you are welcome to join the community for accountability and general bookkeeping support, but we will not be able to provide software-specific guidance.
